The results are in from last week’s food quiz about meats. Here’s how your choices broke down:

Which of the following has the least amount of calories?
25% chose 3.5 ounces lean, boneless pork chop
25% chose 3.5 ounces stewed chicken breast
25% chose 3.5 ounces roasted turkey white meat
17% chose 3.5 ounces canned salmon
8% chose 3.5 ounces 95% lean broiled ground beef

And the answer is? The canned salmon. With only 136 calories it beats out the second place winner chicken, which contains 151 calories. Turkey is a close third with 157 calories. The surprise fourth place finisher is the 95% lean ground beef with 164 calories. The pork chop brings up the rear with 225 calories. Don’t let the ad campaigns about “the other white meat” fool you. Pork chops are higher in calories and saturated fat than the white meat from chicken and turkey that the ads are comparing them to. The chart below provides some other nutrition info about these meats.
