Recipe for Healthy Pizza
Yep, you read that right. Pizza can be healthy. It just requires a little thinking outside the box–the pizza delivery box, that is. Here’s an easy recipe for making a low-calorie, personal-size pizza that packs lots of calcium, antioxidants, and a good amount of protein. Load this pizza up with as many veggies as you like; it won’t significantly impact the number of calories per serving. I recommended my favorites below. The one downside to this pie is it’s a little high in sodium, so drink lots of water with it and watch your sodium intake for the rest of the day. Treat yourself to this delicious and nutritious lunch or dinner as part of a healthy diet and living the fit life.
1/4 cup Kraft Fat Free Shredded Mozzarella
8 slices of red and/or green bell pepper
1/4 cup sliced baby portabella mushrooms
1/4 cup (or less) Classico Tomato and Basil pasta sauce*1 Joseph’s 10” Whole Wheat tortilla
Oregano and crushed red pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spread sauce on tortilla leaving about 1/2 inch around the edge clear. Pile on veggies, shake on seasonings, and put the cheese on top. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.
*Substitute with Joseph’s 8” Oat Bran, Flax, and subtract 100 calories and 40 mg sodium, and add 3 g fiber.
